Sitting Red Fox

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I was cruising the Northern road in Yellowstone, the day after all the rest of the roads in the Park were closed and happened by this gorgeous Red Fox sitting beside the road. Since other cars were very rare, I stopped in the road and took 4 shots out the window. Then someone came from the other direction. When they stopped, the fox took off.

Technical Details

R5, 100-500 @ 106 mm, 1/13 s, f/16, iso 320. Clearly not set up for wildlife, with two of the other 3 pics showing ear movements as the fox’s attention went to the arriving car.

Despite the other car showing up, Mark, this is still a beautiful portrait photo of the fox.

Great subject and beautiful pose, I love the coat too.
Higher POV & busy background is somehow reducing the appeal of image.

You may need to get a road hugging sports car with low ground clearance for a better POV. I would clone out the OOF white spots in the upper RH corner. Otherwise, a fine study of this fox with winter coat developing…Jim
