Red Phalaropes are brave, little birds that spend most of their life out on the Atlantic. Earlier this week I had one that was closer to the shore and was able to make some shots. Thanks for any feedback. For more images you can check my blog https://www.hansoverduin.nl/little-time-for-a-little-hero/
Specific Feedback Requested
I decided on purpose to leave in the brownish ‘thing’ at the right side of the images, as the birds seems to look at it. Is it disturbing?

I really like pretty much everything in this picture: light, stunning bird, ripple, wave; but what I truly like the most is how powerfully it tells its story with no need for a single word.
Really well captured, I like this image very much. Colors and composition are very good, placing the bird in ULC make the image very strong. Only one very minor comment, there is an orange dot mid right that could be erased.
The little fellow cooperated and gave you some nice close shots. I like how you have the small bird close to the top of the frame which really is a nice contrast with the large wave it is riding up on. Focus, color pose and setting all seem great. I would probably remove the few bubbles on the left side of the frame. I would have a look with red dot in and then out and then in and then decide which i preferred. Either way it is a lovely photo.
I wouldn’t change a thing. That orange dot, in my opinion, is what completes the story. “It looks like something to eat. Can I get it before this wave . . . ?” Sorry, Esme. I just couldn’t resist.
Excellent job in capturing the bird at the crest of the wave. The brown dot works as the bird is looking at it. After a storm, I’ve seen Red Phalaropes inland-much easier to photograph without risk of getting wet.
Hi Hans
The framing is great. The Red Phalarope is just sitting on top of the wave with out a care in the world. Thank you for posting this shot.
