Description
Sunset in a small town in the Alps (north Italy, central Alps).
Houses in the shadows. Mountain in the sunlight.
Converted in B&W with Lightroom.
Shot with Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II with LUMIX 12-35 at 27mm (54 mm equivalent).
Specific Feedback
I was in a tight spot so there was no much space for changing composition, other than changing the zoom in or out.
I had a lot of attention in the postproduction but I find hart to find if it is too much and can be noticed too much or if I can still push a little bit.
Aesthetically I like the image. I also like the contrast of the B&W processing. But what is causing the rectangular shadow on the right? It’s very distracting.
And perhaps a little too much man made structures for the landscape forum.
This is a good image, however I find it has too much contrast, either very bright or very dark with few mid tones. I think it would be better if the highlights were a little muted and the shadows and sky raised a bit. The trees, mid way up on right hand side have no detail and are simply a black rectangle. I would prefer to see more detail here.
The top lhs roof line shows a white halo - is this from too much sharpening?
The photo has a good sense of depth and has plenty to occupy the eye and mind without being busy.
After I exported the jpeg from Lightroom the sharpening and structure resulted much higher than what I was seeing in Lightroom. But perhaps it was already set too high by me.
I will try to post-process again.
A big improvement, although in my opinion, a bit too far. I think some of the masking needs refinement, such as the power pole. A darker power pole lower down would make it less noticeable. I find I have to walk away from good photos like these as my brain stops seeing, and then return to processing later.
