Description
Taken as a part of a flight in the Alaska Range as we were preparing to land on Ruth Glacier - our sister plane was circling around for another attempt when I captured them out the window in stark contrast to the nearly greyscale landscape.

Chris, a fine example of the main transportation throughout the entire state of Alaska. The scene presents the reality of how rugged the landscape is and shares some of the weather condition challenges too. The detail in the aircraft is excellent even in the muted light from the fog…
I spent two years flying the entire state from Shemya in the Aleutians to Point Barrow at the top of the state. Mostly in twin engine DE Havilland Otters and Fokker F-27s. And yes, some old DC-3, C-123, C-130, C141 and everything else with wings…
I love the landscape with the background peaks almost obliterated by the fog. The bright red plane makes an interesting accent and does add a sense of scale.
A spectacular image!! You have captured the incredible scenery up there and the plane is in a good spot in the composition. Hope to see more from the trip – sounds fantastic! And congratulations on the EP!!
I missed seeing your first post here but will extend a hearty if belated welcome! I hope you will find NPN a great place to hang out, share and learn!
Chris, This is an outstanding image. The pop of red is a great accent. The clouds that obscure the mountains adds a mysterious quality. The snow describes all the contours of the mountains. You were still able to capture some detail in the structure and colour variations. Magnificent edit.
