Nice stare it’s giving you and I like that the background colors work well with the bird. I could see trying to bring up the shadows in the wings.

Nice pose and head turn. I agree about bringing up the shadows. I might also cut about 10% in on the left to decenter the image.

I think you’re right about the species. Hard to tell for sure because it’s a juvenile.
