Self Critique
Considering the limitations, I thought the composition was pleasing. The rainbow popped, but the water could have been smoother and revealed more details in the dark areas.
Creative direction
I intended to make the rainbow a significant focal point related to the waterfall.
Specific Feedback
I’m looking to see how I could’ve made this photo better.
Technical Details
I used an OM -1 Mk II using the 12-100m F/4 lens with these settings: native ISO 200, 20mm focal length, f/10 at 1/8sec

Hi, @robert8. You sure got lucky with some incredible conditions at this beautiful spot! The rainbow pulls my eye from the left straight toward the waterfall, which is a nice compositional element. I think you could back off on the contrast and saturation a bit, as some of the colors - especially the greens - are a little too vibrant. Overall though, this is lovely!
Thanks Bret for the insight. Yes, I was lucky. I was at the lower falls and ran into a guy who suggested I head back to the upper falls as that rainbow really pops between 1000 and 1100. As I was looking at the photo before posting it, I did think the green was a bit over the top so I appreciate that feed back.
Robert, the arch of the rainbow balances well against the falls. I am surprised at how strong the bow is given that I don’t see a lot of spray towards the left. The bit of green in the lower right are a good addition. I agree with Bret that the greens look oversaturated.
Hi Robert,
You had some challenging lighting conditions, but you certainly handled it quite well. The rainbow is definitely the star of the show and does a fantastic job of directing the viewer toward the waterfall. My only suggestion would be the same as @Bret_Edge about the colors; especially the greens; being too saturated. It should be easy enough to back off the saturation a little. It would also be nice to see a little larger file size to really appreciate this wonderful view. Beautiful scene!
I was surprised as well but I’ll take it. As I’m still learning the post-process as well, I’ll make those changes and tone it down and I see a similar trend in other photos that have green in them as well. I guess I like green. LOL
