I like your strong diagonal line created by the old decomposing branch and I like the juxtaposition of the new fresh growth against all of that decaying matter. I definitely think your title and haiku definitely fits the “story” of image!
From an aesthetic point of view though, I do wish you had a bit more room at the top and on the right. Just so that the young green shoot is not so crowded in the corner.
Ben,
Excellent, intimate portrait of nature. The anchored log is set nicely among the now decomposing autumn leaves - telling a nature story along the way.
I think the inclusion of the little green stalk and leaves works very well and I suspect was the primary reason for photographing the scene? I mean, it’s inclusion is purposeful. Although I agree with Tom that the leaves are perilously close to the edge. I think though, that tension created - kinda works.
My only suggestion and this is well along the lines of personal preference, but I could see cooling down the WB just a tad. The lighter/whiter parts of the log, especially on the pointy end are a little yellow - but of course those colors could be just exactly that, which is why it’s all in the realm of personal choice.
Yup - keep your eye on the ground!
@Tom_Nevesely , @Lon_Overacker , I appreciatie your comments so much .Reading them I also learned some for me new English words. As a bonus.
There is no more room in my recording. Maybe I will go back to make this image again.
The leaves were not my primary reason . Meanly the branch and his birds beak.
I made a rework to make the birds beak a little less yellow. With TK lights-3 screen.
