Excellent image. You could mistake this for a Shishkin composition. The foreground trees that partly overlap and diverge at the top is masterful in making it the central component of the composition. I thought warming it a bit would improve it but didn’t like it when I tried. The side branches don’t bother me at all.
Hi Ben,
This scene is magical; it looks like something straight out of a fairytale. The fog is amazing and I am loving the way the BG trees fade away and disappear into the mist. I can almost feel the damp coolness of this inviting image. While I quite like this as is I can see a crop from both the left and right sides as well. I think that would focus more attention on those main vertical trees as well as the pathway taking me into the forest. I hope you do not mind, but here is a rework with what I was thinking. Just my opinion of course. Great haiku as always. Beautifully done!
@Igor_Doncov , @Ed_Lowe ,Thank you both for making time again to view and comment my image. I myself did try and crop the both sides. It was a good possibility . For my feeling it became a bit bare image.
To me those bushes on both sides pointed my eyes to the middle of the image where it all happens. And it did also function as a border to the image. Ben
As usual, I knew this was one of yours Ben when I first saw the thumbnail. The fog is simply magical in this image. It literally erases the back ground trees and make you contemplate what’s beyond. The path curving around the large foreground tree takes you into that abyss. The only thing that I can nit abut is perhaps the right side of the frame has bright green bushes that are much brighter and greener than most of the rest of the greens in the scene. For that reason, I might be inclined to desaturate the greens on the right side so it doesn’t pull the eye away from that central light and fog.
Wonderful Haiku.
Hi Ben, I enjoy looking at your image. Lots t of promise. The composition is dead on. The leaning branches on the right side are a bit of a bother but detract very little. The vertical repeating trunk columns are very strong. I take your meaning that they can bring one into the image. It is the foot path that walks me into it. I think the image would be improved and stronger if the overall exposure decrease by a stop . I think it would create a darker forest look and set a more intimate mood. The fog mist is beautiful but with the current processing it dominates the forest and trees. The greens look a little too bright saturated to my eyes as well. Would love to see a rework of this one.
@Ed_Lowe , @Igor_Doncov , @David_Haynes , @Stephen_Stanton . Glad there are for different persons different possibilities . It was the special light and not to dark shadows what made the image important to me !
What made it rather lively !
Thanks for your reworks witch I also can appreciate .
Splendid image, Ben. All the reworks have their reasons but the original version is the one I prefer. The light is incredible, you did an excellent work on the luminous atmosphere and the fading trunks… Also the color palette is perfectly fit. A fairytale maybe, or a voyage in a mysterious place (a la Jules Verne). A very inspiring picture!
