Spring In the Valley

Image(s)

Image Description

I’ve photographed this row of black cottonwoods through the seasons; this is first time in spring. There was a heavy runoff of snow melt which caused me to slog through large pools of water before getting to my setup site. These trees have rapid growth cycles, I’ll soon have to setup further back which will cause some overhanging branches to get in the comp. I tried to include a reflection of the trees in a large pool in the foreground, not very successful. But, I really like the brilliant greens of new growth, which caught my eye from the roadway.

Does the reflection work, are the greens too much…?

Reno: Makes me want to be there. I see the reflections and think they are a very nice complementary element. The fresh green against the backdrop of the stone cliff face is a great contrast in texture. Well seen, composed and captured. >=))>

Thank you, Bill.

Reno, those bright spring greens are great. You complement them well with the evergreens and gray cliffs behind. The reflections add very well to this lovely scene.

Reno,

Great to see a post from you! Hope all is well!

I’ve photographed this stand many, many times and this version came out quite beautifully. The spring greens really stand out. And the water in the meadow is a great surprise. The backdrop of Yosemite’s granite walls always adds a wonderful element to the meadows such as this.

Beautifully seen and presented. Hope there’s more!
