Squatters Beach

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I made this image in 2013. Many beaches on the Oregon coast have the remains of trees that nature deposited in the sand. This interesting one looks like it might have been an encampment. The orange sunset gives it an interesting glow.

Specific Feedback

I am interesting in your general impressions and suggestions.

I definitely think this image must be viewed large to be truly appreciated. I did just that at have been looking at it for a few minutes now… Anyway, I love the sky - both the colour of it and that awesome looking cloud that runs right across the entire frame. I also love the general chaos of the drift wood on the beach because it feels so wild and untamed. The only thing that takes away from this wild feeling that I’m getting are the two leaning logs on the right that appear to have been placed there by someone.

Thanks, Tom. You confirm what I visioned with the image. The leaning logs on the right may be someone’s lean-to. That’s why I titled the image Squatters Beach. Thanks for your visit and comment.

Larry, the contrast between the “cold” driftwood and the warm sky is striking. Clearly someone started a shelter on the right. This captures the look and feel of the beaches along the Northwest coast well.

Thanks, Mark. I appreciate your visit and remarks.
