Description
Another of a solo flower in our succulent garden. It takes many weeks, even months for these to sprout, bud and bloom but the cool thing is that the flowers stay in good shape for as much as 2-3 weeks. We are finally getting some cold weather so they’re covered now and I’m hoping they are still viable later this week. >=))>
Specific Feedback
I’m eagerly anticipating the arrival of Sony’s new 100mm macro to replace/supplement my venerable 200mm but until then I’m having better luck stacking with the old guy. Look OK to you?

Such a gorgeous flower and you have captured both its fragility and its boldness in design and structure. I have no suggestions to offer. Wonderful capture.
Excellent composition, Bill, and the stack worked quite nicely. I do see three or four minor stacking anomalies, but you have to know what to look for and actually be looking for them to notice, so I don’t think they matter.
Bill, another nice shot of this tiny but beautiful little flower. Excellent capture. I hope you get the 100 macro lens soon. I have certainly enjoyed Canon’s 100 mm macro lens.
Shirley: It finally shipped a couple of days ago. I started my macro journey with a Minolta 100mm that was a great lens and then graduated to my venerable 200mm in 2001. It is 25 years old and showing signs of age but as you can see here it remains extremely sharp. I can use it on my A7rIII mirrorless but I have to use an adapter and it’s a nuisance. I usually keep it on the A77II but then I sacrifice pixels and image resoution. The new Sony 100 will match perfectly with the A7rIII and it goes to 1.4x and you can put a 2xTC on it as well. The only thing it doesn’t have that I know I will miss is a tripod collar but it will weigh a lot less than the 200 so if I want to hand hold i’ll be able to do so with it’s advanced image stabilization. I will keep the old guy around so that he can mentor the new kid. >=))>
That is a pain, Bill, but it is possible to get by mounting the camera to the tripod. Ballheads seem to work best for macro, though I’ll admit I really miss the rotation that the collar provides when I don’t have it.
