Succulent Season

Image Description

A number of our succulents are waking from their summer slumber and this is one of the first bunches to be photo worthy. A type of Kalanchoe that takes a lot of time to bloom and then to flower but the good side is that they don’t fade quickly either. >=))>

No one has entered a stack so I thought this was a good example of stacking to produce a soft BG.

Lovely subject and composition, with yummy soft colors. The stack was the perfect way to isolate the subject and have a soft BG. Well done!

We’ve had a very mild autumn (no frost in sight yet) but I don’t think any of my succulents ever thinks about blooming except in summer, and they are mostly pretty scrawny.

Really nice photo. Love the composition, background, and colors.

Terrific shot Bill. Focus stacking of the flowers works so well here with the out of focus background. Those flowers are so sharp and detailed. Maybe just a little darkening of the whites in the background, but a really nice image.

Bill, you caught these at a good time, with the flowers just starting to open. That creates a fine collection of subtle colors in the bloom that are set off very well by the oof background with it’s similar colors.

First of all, I love succulents! I love how perfectly this worked with the middle buds just starting to open but the rest still closed. I have a love/hate relationship with focus stacking. It works well but some of the subjects with tiny details and different layers require and insane amount of photos that I get lazy and forget about it.
