Survivor

Image Description

These trees survived a fire and many are coming back to life. I liked the way the sun was hitting the golden part of the branches.

I usally just point and shoot. It’s after that I think about what I should not and should have done. I’m not a landscape photographer and have difficulty creating a good composition.

Leticia, this is a fine look at this dead tree. Your cutting off of the branches on the left makes it clear that doing so was your intent, so it works well compositionally. Something to try, would be to crop a bit from the top and right so the branches there also are cut off at the edge. The pure blue sky and the snowy mountains tell us some about where this is happening.

Thank you for your input. I’ll give that a try.

A very nice image of this dead tree, Leticia. I really like the contrast between the blackened bark and the areas where it has come off. I think Mark has an interesting idea on the crop. We usually try to include the entire subject, but I think his idea would really work well for this image.

Hi Leticia, I suspect what attracted you to this tree is the contrast of the burned areas on the branches with the bleached white branches. As others have mentioned, you could get more intimate in the capture or post cropping to get tighter on that contrast. SInce some branches are already cut off, it would be ok to get in tighter.
