Survivor's Stand: A Tale of Two Gums

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

In the high country, two gums are there together. One’s dead. The other lives. They’re a pair against the sky. The wind moves through the live one’s leaves. The other stands quiet. They are the truth of the mountain, showing what lives and dies without making a show of it.

Ancient gums stand tall,
One falls silent, one sways on,
Life’s cycle whispers.

Well seen, composed and photographed. I love looking at your posts. They’re usually accompanied by some creative thought and writing.

Don,
This scene has a stark beauty that I find to be very inviting. Both versions are lovely, but I slightly prefer the B&W one as it reinforces that mood for me. I love the character of the trees along with the lighter striations on the living gum tree. BTW, wonderful haiku!

Thanks for the encouraging feedback! I think B&W works better for the same reason, Ed. :+1:
