Description

Swan Lake Iris Gardens in South Carolina has two parts: a swan lake with all 8 types of swans and a marsh environment. Of course, I went straight for the swamp.

Hm. I can see the draw. I love backwaters, bogs and swamps myself. But I’m not seeing anything that translates. What I mean by that is the 3D sometimes doesn’t work in 2D. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve had a view catch my attention, but when I get the camera on it, I walk away because something just doesn’t come through the same way. So I move on. One thing you could try here is to eliminate the foreground pretty much entirely (crop to the bottom of the stick on the far right). Then I think the trees on the right are too weighty and also need a crop. This would leave us with a swirl of green (I like the shapes of the bushes) and some reflection… That to me is the heart of this shot. Hope that helps!
