Taking a drive

Here you can see the frog come back up

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I wanted to see how the settings I set in the camera would work. I went to Canoa Ranch Pond to see what birds I could find. The second I was ready with the camera; I saw a Dove drop into the water a couple of times. I did not know Doves do that. I added a second photo where you can barely see the Dove on the top, but a frog came back up to the surface. Maybe this is what the Dove was after

Specific Feedback

Does the dove need more room on the right because flying that way.

Technical Details

Nice shot of the dove taking off, Dean. I think the framing works pretty well. The touch of wing blur at the tips conveys the motion and works for me. I don’t think the dove was after the frog-they eat seeds.

I have only seen doves in shallow puddles; not ponds. I agree with @Dennis_Plank comments. I wonder if this was not a frog but a turtle (maybe snapping one) after the dove. After all it looks like a turtle dove.
