This was shot from a small plane SE of San Francisco, looking out over the Pacific near sunset, on a winter day with a high pressure system trapping low-level moisture from the marine layer. It is approximately looking toward Big Sur or a little north of there. It is part of a series I have of the very interesting atmospheric effects in this general area.

This is a lovely image Diane, its very calm and peaceful looking. The gentle pastel colors in the sky add so much here. It somewhat reminds of images from Smokie Mountains NP with all these foggy layers. I’m enjoying this very much as presented , I love the mood it conveys.
That’s wonderful Diane. It really needs to be opened large to fully appreciate; it would be easy to pass off based on the thumbnail and smaller version. I love how “subtle” it is. The hills in the rolling fog and the slight color in the sky are a beautiful marriage.
This is lovely, Dianne. The pastel colors give this scene such a peaceful serene vibe that I find very inviting. This has to be viewed large to really appreciate all of the subtle details. I hope you print this and hang it on your wall.
