Description
A long time ago I gave up trying to feed bird in the back yard. It turned out I was feeding more squirrels than birds. But now there is a bird seed, bird like and squirrels will not eat. Red Hot Pepper Bird Seed. So this is my first try at photographing very small, fast birds. I believe this is a Junco photographed on Jan.20 at 10:47 AM.
Thank you for stopping by.

A Junco it is, Peter, and a very fine one. One of the most photogenic feeder birds you’ll find, in my not so humble opinion. A very nice job on this image, Peter. I like the nice line of snow as a base.
P.S. You can also get peppered suet and “bark bits” for the birds that like that sort of thing.
Really nice image, Peter. I like the bird’s pose, with the glance over the shoulder. The detail and comp are fine, and the BG adds a lot.
Thanks for the tip on the seed !
A sweet shot, and the snow looks like icing sugar on its beak to sweeten it up even more. I’d like to see a squirrel’s reaction if he gobbled that seed by mistake. He’d be hopping mad! Good one, Peter.
I missed this one earlier – you got a very nice pose and setting! The Juncos around my area (at least) are relatively tame (or brave), and always seem sweet. They are fun to photograph. Hope you get more good chances! And congratulations on the EP – well deserved!
Peter, congrats on the EP. Very nice look at the junco and it’s nice to see a variation of the ones we see out west. The snow and the pleasing background work well to showcase this beauty.
This is a really beautiful shot. I have a lot of juncos at my feeder and they are fast little birds. I love the over-the-shoulder look and the snow on the beak. The soft light is lovely as is the color palette.
