Another two good images in this sequence, Peter. As a story, it leaves me a bit confused because showing just a single bird in each image doesn’t show any conflict, though their attitudes certainly would imply it. Were they contesting it with another Osprey pair?
Peter,
Is that a platform built for nesting Osprey or just some sort of platform this pair was trying to use? Also, is this the same bird? It looks like it because in both images there is a little blood on it’s left talon. That first one looks like it’s striking a pose. I prefer the look of the second one as we get to view both talons hanging down, and both wings in the upright position with a beautifully flared tale. Looks like you had overcast conditions which is great for shooting osprey with their white feathers.
Would love to know the outcome here.
Nice shots Peter - you handled the techs very well and each pose is dynamic. Agree with Dennis that the images don’t necessarily demonstrate the title too well. Still fine captures.
Hi Dennis, David & Allen
In the last two post I was around 60ft from the unused platform and could only focus on one bird. Every time the Osprey shown in those post trying to setup a nest on this platform, the male from the adjacent nest came to chase newcomer off the unused platform. The rejected Osprey pair, did return to the their old nesting platform, after the Geese’s chick left the nest.
Peter
Outstanding images, Peter. Some of the best detail I’ve seen in an Osprey. I especially like the second one, in full attack mode, coming at the viewer.
Ospreys are my favorite birds of prey. So, thank you for these beautiful images. I especially love the action in the second picture, showing the full strength of the bird. Beautiful work.
Luckily ospreys become more frequent in the Netherlands and also in some places in Belgium. With some time, I will give them a proper try. Thanks for the inspiration.
