Image Description
This was taken in capital reef national park in Utah (when I was on a workshop with David Kingham and Jennifer Renwick). I was drawn towards the red pillers where I could see a bird on each side and at least two characters in the middle. I took quite a lot of pictures with that group and then the sun hit in such a way to create that face above them that made the picture so much more special.

I played a little with dodging and burning to emphasize my subject but I am not sure if I did it in the best possible way. Maybe I didn’t dodge enough, maybe I didn’t burn enough. I was also not sure whether I should crop a little on the right. I left it there to leave room for the characters.

Tamar, I agree that the shadow up top adds a lot to the view here. I also think that cropping from the right would be good. That will emphasize the figures in orange as well as the shadow above. It looks challenging, but if you can get a bit more separation between the figures and the reddish stones behind on their left, that would show off the figures a bit more also. I like the strong shadows.
@tamar-aharony I think @Mark_Seaver idea is a very good one with regards to the crop. An easy change there for sure. The top shadow is a big part of the scene and it becomes a slight mystery to the viewer not seeing what is causing the projection in the end. A fine CRNP image…been there many times in the past.
Thank you both for your comments. I really appreciate it. I posted a new edit of the photo. I agree it looks better with the two changes - the crop and the darkening of the upper left. I am just not sure that the previous whites now have a weird unnatual gray color.
Tamar: I like the crop and most of your adjustments. My only suggestion would be to give the queen a bit more room up top and I dodged the gray area to the left of the queen along the left edge. I have not been to Capital Reef so this has helped push it higher on my bucket list. Nicely seen and captured. >=))>
