The same Bullock's Oriole?

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

This was shot yesterday, about 2 1/2 hours before my last post, in heavy morning fog. He is on the same branch and the BG is the same. I thought he had nesting material until I got it in the computer – I’ve never seen one with a bug!

The lovely fog has cleared away and we will have very clear skies for maybe 5-6 days – and nights – and at the dark of the moon!! So I’m off to astro land for a while! Still bummed that thin clouds made my early morning comet attempts worthless. May try to harass the birds when the feeder area is in morning shade.

Technical Details

The usual global tonal tweaks in LR but very few this time. Denoise in LR. Into PS for some branch cleanup and a crop to about 50%.

HI Diane, this looks quite cool with the fly (crane fly?) as prey. The subtle vignetting in the image works for me and highlights the beauty of the bird. Sharp where it needs to be. Well done.

Thanks, @Allen_Sparks ! It does look like a Crane Fly – there are plenty around here.
