About This Image

I’ve been delighting in the Orioles who summer here (Bullock’s and Hooded) and the Black-headed Grosbeaks who arrive at the same time, as they are such a delightful splash of color from our mostly drab residents. And each year they have to re-learn how to deal with the Acorn Woodpeckers, who are playground bullies. I always cheer when an Oriole makes it to the feeders.

Feedback Requested

I decided to keep the branch on the right, so the scene didn’t look too processed. (No other cleanup was done.) I’m intrigued by the light “beard” on this one – maybe a yearling?

Really nice Diane! Love the colouring of the bird and the matching background.

I also like the branch on the RHS. Once I probably would have (still might) pruned off but I feel it helps the directional flow of the image. If the branch had been on the left, it would have obstructed the birds view and blocked the flow. Liken that lichen! Especially that tiny matching yellow bit.

A beautiful image of this lady, Diane. I really like the pose you caught and the branch you left in seems to fit nicely.

Another image, Diane, with excellent detail. I like the pose and both branches, pointing in the opposite direction, gives the image a nice balance. Very nice background as well.

Thanks, @Glenys_Passier , @Dennis_Plank and @Allen_Brooks ! Glad to hear that the branch works for you! I wish we had more yellow lichen here. It seems to do best on aging barn siding, with much smaller patches on tree branches.

Hi Diane, such a great pose and a pleasure to see such naturally rendered plumage. Fine sharpness in head, body and feet. Branches work for me. Well done.

Thanks, @Allen_Sparks ! We have a varied lot of Oriole ages this year.
