I am enjoying this one. I like the perspective and the B&W is well done and effective. It might be my eyes, but I would not mind a slight CCW rotation? And I might burn that sliver of light wood in the top left corner. Both are quite minor. Nicely done, Dan.
Dan, a really nice take from this perspective. I always enjoy these hallway views with a bit of tunnel vision…
I agree with Harley’s points for possible change, especially a review with the grid overlay for need of a slight CCW rotation…
This is a really fine image. The richness of tonal values together with the composition makes this for me. Great work.
I like the lines and textures in this image a lot, Dan. I agree that it could use a touch of counter-clockwise rotation. The edge of that foreground wall just isn’t quite parallel with the edge of the frame. You camera may have been perfectly level and the wall skewed, but visually it distracts me.
Very nicely done, Dan. There’s a calm, inviting feeling to the image, an d you wonder what lies behind the distant door.
Thank you everyone for taking time to critique this shot - Having my shots un-level is so common that I was thrilled to find a level function on my current camera . . . . it helps but obviously it’s not fool-proof
Hi Dan: Both Photoshop and Lightroom have leveling capability, though it does result in a slight crop. For some reason, in Photoshop, it’s been moved under the crop function.
Thanks @Dennis_Plank - I usually crop/straighten in another application but will make a note to check out the capability again in PSE. I had actually straightened this shot but focused more on the horizontal floor line and door in the background. I think the walls in the foreground are slightly off naturally but do agree that they are distracting to the viewer. I’ve since re-straightened this shot to correct it based on the feedback.
Yeah. I remember when I was an undergrad many, many years ago visiting some friends’ apartment. There literally was not a 90 degree angle in the whole thing. It was like a fun house.
An image that tells a story. The B&W treatment is wonderful.
