The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
I took this photo of three dried coneflowers at different stages of decay on a windy day in early October. I wanted the look to be somewhat moody–soft but also I wanted to emphasize the wonderful textures of these flowers tops when they’re dry. I really liked the juxtaposition of these three and how they contrast. I was hoping viewers would get the sense that each “sister” has a unique attitude all her own.
Specific Feedback
Any general feedback is greatly appreciated, such as on composition, artistry, technical stuff, etc.-- your general reaction to the image and what I was attempting to convey.
Technical Details
I used a Canon EOS R with a Canon RF 100mm macro lens, handheld with available light (early morning); ISO 400, f2.8, 1/320 sec. This was a 4 shot stack.
There is something always engaging about seed heads and pods. They are desiccated and beyond lovely in the traditional sense, but there is a hopefulness about them, too. I think the three work well here, but I wonder if more dramatic processing might bring it out. Taking down the exposure some might work. Looks like you have good sharpness between them. I imagine a lot of birds have been happy to have them.
Very nice! Seed heads are almost always interesting and these certainly are, and there is a story with each in a different stage. You got all three nicely in focus and the BG is beautifully soft. The OOF one in the BG adds another element of interest. The exposure looks OK on my screen. The histogram is all in the left 2/3 of the range so if anything I might squeak it up a tiny bit, but watching to hold down the small highlights.
@Kris_Smith and @Diane_Miller Thanks so much for your feedback and suggestions! Yes, I love love love seedheads too!! There are everywhere in the meadows and parks around my home in Ohio. I appreciate your kind words.
