Larry,

I love this! Great vision to see this and capture this. One would think, and maybe someone will, that highlighted cattails compete too much with the tree? But for me, I think the tree with the solid branches and delicate smaller branches really stands out well.

The one thing that really grabs my eye though is the large cattail on the left edge. If it were mine I would either crop slightly or CA-clone that one away. Maybe the second one on the same stalk, but it’s less of an issue.

There’s also a soft and lovely warm/cool color thing going on here. Don’t know how else to describe it… but I’m really connecting with this one. Beautifully seen and captured.

Great job of taking advantage of the back lighting in this image. I also like the blue / green color of the background, it is very appealing. your placement of the tree within the composition is also very well handled, nice job.

I agree with @Lon_Overacker that the cattail at the left edge of the frame is distracting. I would clone it away instead of cropping it, because I like seeing the entire branch in the ULC, and a crop of the cattail would also crop that branch.

Super interesting shot that I keep reopening! That should tell you something. Because the majority of the image is high-key, I’d wonder about lightening the shadows of the tree just slightly. Great shot and well seen!
