Critique Style Requested: Standard
The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
A double row of pilings emerges as the tide goes out on the Waddenzee. It was a very bright afternoon and I used Selective Color in PS to bring out the pastel effect and reduce colour contrast, therefore giving the image a more abstract character.
Specific Feedback
Asking for aesthetic feedback in particular.

This is very interesting. I had no clue as to what the two diagonal lines were. I wanted to take it to Lightroom and play around with it, but couldn’t figure out now to do that. I was thinking to maybe make it even more abstract Perhaps, increase the contrast and saturation. Maybe crop out the sky down to the horizon line so you can’t tell that’s what it is. Rotate it 180 degrees so you really couldn’t tell what it was. Just some thoughts.

I really like the minimalistic aspect of this composition. An alternative might be a squarish crop by cropping in from both sides. The pilings are so delicate that the image would retain its minimalistic look.

Thank you for your response, Chris, and I’m sorry I didn’t get back to it earlier. Yes, I can see a lot of value in making a more abstract image out of it.
Thank you so much Igor and I’m awfully sorry I didn’t respond earlier. I’ve been neglecting NPN and just got back to it. A square crop may just be the solution, good suggestion!
