I really like the transitions from blue/grey to black to pink to blue. The vague triangular shapes of blue/grey and black also draw interest. I would like to see the horizon line horizintal, even if the camera was levelled for the photo. An alternative could be a 45 deg offset of the horizon to make the photo truly abstract or cropping square and trying various 90 deg rotations.
Hi Ulbe,
I like this one very much.
II feel comfortable looking at the abstract, meaning that nothing bores me or confuses me.
I feel comfortable wandering around the picture.
I like the image, in particular the feeling it gives of a huge wave washing over the entire beach. The colors are also lovely.
Coming from the Netherlands, I instantly knew that the horizon was not horizontal because it was the outer dune ridge, but I do understand the comments by @Rob_Sykes and @Don_Peters If you lift the very dark shadows just a bit, you would probably reveal more of the (vague) distinction between beach and dunes and remove the feeling of the horizon being crooked.
I like this very much! The use of color is wonderful. Although I’m wondering if there was more room up top; this might balance the color of the sky with the beach/water. It might also provide a more graduated blend of colors and add to the scene? not sure, just a thought.
Despite the darkness of the beach/sand, I find this a very peaceful and relaxing scene.
Not much to suggest. Very minor observation/suggestion might be to burn down the brightest leading edge of the surf in the LRC, lower right corner. Slightly brighter than the rest of the water and scene, so it draws the eye a bit (on the other hand, it works to anchor and give the eye a place to rest…)
Not part of the critique here, but the Nature Abstract gallery might have been a better fit. No biggie at all, just something to consider for the future. Thanks for sharing this beauty!
