Travelin' Chukar Chick

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

About 20 minutes before I photographed the quail (avian post today), I saw a covey of chukars crossing and walking on the RR tracks in Yakima River Canyon. I managed to find a pull out and get out of car before they disappeared. Got a few shots. Most not very good.

Specific Feedback

I posted two versions. The original has chick placed in center; the second cropped to leave room in front of chick.

Technical Details

Your second thought works much better for my taste, Jim. It conveys the title much better. I wasn’t sure that was a railroad track at first, so I’m glad you confirmed it. Very nicely done.

Nice reward for chasing it down without spooking it! Humorous that it seems to prefer the “sidewalk” to a trail. My vote for the second crop, also. I wouldn’t have guessed it was a RR track – never been eye-to-eye with one, I guess.

Dennis and Diane, Thank you.
