Tree Tops

Hm, again not so sure which category to fit this one into.

I’ve been playing a lot with LIGHT/DARK multiple exposures recently. I just get inspired by all sorts of subjects. Here it was tree tops in spring.

Pertinent technical details or techniques:

Love this. Wonderful tone, texture, colour and geometry. Compelling.

Nice! Seems it could fit in a scene of Lord of the Rings… Not sure it is a fully reassuring forest, but… Well done, anyway.

Beautifully done. Very imaginative

A very nice image, Ingrid. I love all the shapes and lines in this.

Very cool, Ingrid. I like the kind of Irish Knot effect of the branches creating a symmetrical flower sorts in the middle of the frame. It has a very sacred, pagan, mystical feel. Great idea and execution.

I love seeing different creative in-camera techniques. This is very cool, Ingrid.

I love the symmetry here Ingrid.

Can you please elaborate on your in camera method?

Thanks a lot everyone, it’s good to hear that the shot conveys the mood that I wanted to bring across!

Ingrid.

Hi Nathan.

You have to find a spot in the woods where you can see a nice tree and some air. You have to keep the air in the centre and turn around that point very rhythmically as many times as you want. I took 8 steps in a circle. It’s not easy in the woods to get the rhythm right because the undergrouns is not level so it often takes a few trials before it looks right. You can do it on tripod too which gives more consistent images but setting it level in the woods is necessary and often not easy - but worth giving a go if you have time

Excellent geometry and design. Is the entire process done in-camera or do you take multiple images and combine them in post processing? Great effect

Hello Patricia, thanks for your appreciation! I only work in-camera and am a very bad post processor
Best wishes, Ingrid.

Thanks Ingrid. That technique is superb interesting

Love to see this kind of creative work on NPN. Very pleasing image and thanks for the description of how you did it.

Thank you for the explanation. This makes me think of one those Tiffany lamps, the ones with the stained glass. Very creative and beautiful.

This is just an incredible in - camera work. Cant begin to imagine how many times you did it to get one that was so perfect. Thanks for sharing!

This is really cool! I love how you created a mandala out of the trees.

Creative in camera technique Ingrid. Wonderful pattern and color.
