The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
Another from my walk with the wildflowers last week. It was getting windier and windier the longer I was out, but I managed a few shots that aren’t terrible. This is False Rue Anemone I’m pretty sure - it’s much taller than Wood Anemone and is a little showier, too. There were really large swaths of it and I picked out this little bunch while a cloud passed over the sun which helped preserve some detail in the petals. The different blooming stages are part of what attracted me as well as the slightly different profiles of the fully opened flowers. Lots of little bees and other insects about as these are so important for them.
Specific Feedback
How does the stack look?? Also the lens blur effect. I think I caught all of the strangeness, but I may have missed some. Any other feedback is welcome, too.
Lr for basic global edits to even out the luminosity range and do some color correction - the leaves are a warm green. Zerene for a Dmap stack with retouching using original images as well as some detail from a Pmax stack. Lr for a crop and some work to get some distractions out of the bg as well as apply a lens blur effect.
A lovely arrangement of cool flowers! I could see some retouching, mostly around the white petals, but a good job considering the breeze. I wonder about toning down the BG with some lower contrast.
This reminds me to go check the blackberries but it’s probably too late.
There’s a few stacking artifacts around some of the petals and the center of the LH flower. This is a very challenging subject for stacking. The exposure is perfect and like the soft lighting. Like you, I find that strong winds are the bane of macro and fine art photographers. I think that you did fairly well in capturing this scene and well worth the effort…Jim
Kris: I’m constantly fighting the wind when outside trying to stack, especially since my camera doesn’t do focus bracketing automatically. I like the subject and the different stages you have here. About the only thing I may have done differently would have been to rotate the camera a bit more to increase the diagonal 10-15° CCW which would fill the frame a bit more with the flowers and leaves. Still a wonderful find and a fine shot. >=))>
