Turtle in ice

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I visited a local lake and it was amazing that most of it was frozen but it had many pockets of water still flowing. The combinations of the ice and the water created all kinds of interesting shapes. In this frame I shot what looked to me like a turtle floating on ice. I tried to change it to black and white but I thought the little orange leaves add character to the picture.

Specific Feedback

Do the little orange leaves add to distract from the picture? Is the ice too dark and it could benefit from whitening it more?

Technical Details

Sony a7c tamaron 70-300 lens iso 400 f/8 1/1250. Did some burning of the turtle in lightroom.
