On May 8, I was photographing Cormorants on the Back River when this Mallard flew by. I contribute Bothe shot to the Canon R5 eye focus system.

Technical Details
Canon R5, Canon 100-500mm &1.4ext, f10, f8, 700mm, 480mm 1/1600, ISO 2,500, 400. South shot are cropped around 50% and the highlights and gain were adjusted in DXO Photo Lab 6.
A pair of excellent flight shots. I do wish the darn cormorant had angled itself toward you rather than away, but that’s just what they always seem to do. The mallard is great with a wonderful angle.

That the problem with trying to track fast moving birds on water, just when you get then asset up they flown pass you. Thanks for the comment.

Nice images Peter - especially like the incoming look of the mallard. Nice exposure on both birds. Yes, tough to get in front of a flying bird and angled just right. They just don’t follow instructions well.
