Description
It’s been a great year for the Arrowleaved Balsamroot. This is a look at a two blooms from a single clump where I notice a distinct difference in my reaction to the original versus the flipped version. The first view is as shot while the second view has been flipped horizontally. I assume my reaction relates to how many of us read from top left to lower right.
That is quite the sea of yellow! I bet they are bee magnets, too. I wish for a bit more separation with the most in focus blossom, but that looks like it might have been hard. The flipped version is a nice add. I think I spy an ant or a spider on the stem there. I love it when bugs photobomb me.
I’ve never seen it growing this thick – very nice capture. I prefer the first, as my eye enters the image with an uncluttered edge and the bit of BG on the right acts as a stopper. Having the view to the BG on the left feels more awkward. So I assume your instinct led you to compose the image with that in mind, even if subconsciously. As to the orientation of the flowers themselves, no preference.
