The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

While shooting Sand Hill Cranes in Eastern Washington I noticed a flock of black birds seeking to divert attention from the cranes to them. (At least that is how it appeared to me.) It worked. I thought it would be easy to get a good photo, but it proved to be difficult.

Specific Feedback

This is cropped to about 2/3rds of the original to eliminate some human elements (fences). I had difficulty with the edges. There are also some open spaces. I chose not to fill them with copies of birds.

From my experience, Jim, it’s hard to get a flock of RWBB looking this nice as they take flight. Detail looks great and the cranes add a lot to the image. Reminds me of my trip to Bosque Del Apache.

I think you succeeded quite well, Jim. Flock shots are always difficult, but the overlapping of the blackbirds on the cranes tells a story about migrations and adds a bit of whimsy to the image.

Alan, thank you. Nowhere the number of birds at Bosque Del Apache, but very few photographers.

Dennis, Thank you. They were quickly swooping around, as they usually do, but not in front of the cranes. Fortunately, I waited a little longer, and they made a pass on their way out of there.
