Description
I was out last Monday at Whitewater Draw in AZ looking at the Sandhill Cranes and Snow Geese. I was sitting in one place and this bird looked like taking off. It was a very peaceful day.
Specific Feedback
Is the small bush in the background a problem, behind the wind. Going to a print, does the crane need more room on the left side. any other comments welcome

This is a great look at the crane, Dean. Excellent detail, the running pose, and the water splash make for a great image. If you have the pixels, I could see more room on the bottom and to the left and maybe crop or clone out the stuff on top. I could see removing the bush as well.
Dean, this is a fine action shot. I’m fine with both the bush and the oof reflection at the top, but it needs more space at the bottom and a bit more on the right so the viewer can comfortably see the take-off splash.
Beautiful high-energy pose in the crane, Dean. I would like a tad more room on the bottom and right for that splash. If you want to keep the aspect ratio or size a touch off the top and left wouldn’t hurt the composition significantly for me. This one is almost a portrait, so I don’t think you need as much room to move into as normal. As for the bush behind the wing, I’d personally probably remove it (or try). I think the object select tool in PS would do a good enough job of selecting the wing to let you get away with the removal seamlessly, but it doesn’t always work as well as I hope.
This is a wonderful action packed image of the crane.
I would certainly consider removing the little patch of bush behind the wing and the one on the LHS. I hope you have more room on the bottom. It feels just a little tight on that edge.
Hi Dean
To quote a director I work with, “If the viewer is looking at the bust in the background, you already lost him on the true point of interest in this scene.”
As for the framing, if you can open up the bottom and left of the frame, I think that would help in the printing. The Sandhill Crane looks great. Nice work.
