Varied Thrush in Snow

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Years ago (2011) I created a folder of backyard bird photos, then never did anything with it. I finally decided to make it a LR Collection and bring it up to date. A few weeks and 2500 images later, it is (except whatever I process from what I uploaded today). Along the way, I found some images that I had never processed, simply because it was such a productive time and other things interfered before I got done or there was too much “hand of man”. Some of those, I processed as I went along. This is one of them.

Specific Feedback

I deliberately brought the background of this one up far enough to eliminate any snow texture. Does it work?

The varied Thrush Is a pretty cool bird compared to the robin it’s relative. The markings are so different. This one looks really good as a high key image. good detail good color. Nice composition

It’s very striking against the white. And we can still see a small patch of texture around the legs to “ground” the bird. A very pleasing shot, Dennis.

I like high key photos and this one fits the bill. I like some texture in the snow below the bird to provide a base to the image as my only concern. The plumage on the head shows up quite well. I think that you need to find more of these older images as this one is very nice. Awesome…Jim

Hi Dennis, a beautiful bird looking great in this high key view. Fine colors and detail. I like seeing the snow texture at the feet of the bird and thinking showing more of the texture of the snow would be fine. Wonderful image either way.
