Description:
Saw this viceroy in a butterfly garden in northwest Tennessee this past weekend. I was surprised to see a viceroy feeding on several nectar plants. I thought they were sap feeders.

That’s a super shot, Allen. I love how the angle of the butterfly contrasts with that of the Buddleia - and the BG is a gorgeous tone. I must admit that when such a beautiful butterfly has no major damage, I like to sometimes clean up the scratch marks to “restore” its pristine state. But I see the other side to this debate too, and in this case the scratches are pretty minor.
Oh, what a beauty, Allen. I like the composition and that BG really makes him and the flower stand out nicely.
Perfect composition, perspective and subject, Allen. Can’t imagine changing a thing.
I like this one a lot. The butterfly is perfectly captured and the position of the butterfly together with tha plant and the color scheme make up a very good composition.
