Description

aptly-named!
Brazil Rainforest
Several of these guys were flitting about at the lodge at the feeders. When I saw this tree and branches with the golden lichens during a walk in the jungle, I asked the guides to cut a piece to use as a staging perch. Perfect colours for this tanager!

An exquisite jewel - on a rather nice perch too! A stickler would ask you to remove that tiny white dot under the eye, but I won’t .

Wow, what a beauty! Too cute! and those colors are amazing. Even has a bit of a head turn towards us. Fantastic perch and background too.

Another South American beauty, Sandy. Great color and details, an interesting perch that complements the bird, and a pleasing background. Cute pose as well.

Gorgeous perch, Sandy, and the bird is pretty good too. Excellent detail throughout and a very nice background.

I screwed up! I awoke in the middle of the night last night, thinking “That was an euphonia, not a tanager”. Right colours, right country, wrong bird! (They are quite similar)
It’s a violaceous euphonia, a small passerine bird in the true finch family .
Title corrected.

What a swell looking bird that’s in an ideal setting. If this were mine I’d seriously consider it for hanging on the wall. No nit from me. Well done.

What a stunning bird to go along with a stunning perch. Good call on getting them to cut that branch off for you to use for your set up. What a great head turn and pose you were able to capture here. The background is nicely blurred without many distractions which is rare in the rainforest and the colors are just so complimentary. I wanted to see more of the eye and pop those blues just a smidgen so I took this into LR for a quick spin and this is what I came out with.
All just dodging and burning with a brush and luminosity masks in LR. I also worked on that light patch just under the perch under the bird the light patch just above the perch before it exits the scene on the right side and the URC a little bit.

Thanks, Dave - looks better! Much appreciated!
