The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
Belted Kingfisher, female perched and looking for breakfast. These are the most skitish birds that I try to photograph. Seems as though the slightest movement alerts them and off they go.
She was far enough away but , that is the problem. Had to do a large crop see any detail but have lost some in the chest area. I liked the pose and the colors showed well in the light.

Hi Charlie. Nice catch and the light did do a very nice job bringing out the colors. It looks like the focus may have been on the perch instead of the bird-a very common problem, particularly if its a long ways away. It also looks like some of the loss of detail on the breast may have been overexposure, though it’s hard to be sure.
Hi Charlie
The Kingfisher is the top 10 of my to do list. The overall frame works and I think you maybe able recover some of the blown out white a brush or control points to lower the exposer.

Hi Charlie, these are such hard birds to photograph - they rarely cooperate for close up shots. I like the pose you caught here. Nice profile. I agree with the comments above. To help with exposure, I use highlight alerts aka “blinkies” to make sure I am not over exposing the whites. I use settings where the blinkies are barely not being seen - an attempt for the brightest exposure without blowing out any areas of the image.
Thanks. Sorry it took so long to respond. In the midst of a move. Now relocated. I thought the histogram looked ok. Really big crop. Will try to adjust my EB when ever I see white on a bird again.
