Thanks Gerard — a great place all year no doubt !
Indeed! It’s a pity though that we don’t get misty conditions very often here. Although this makes it more special if we do get mist…
Thanks Ben! I love the light in the first image too. I agree with other respondents that the second one is more subtle and mysterious… it’s always hard to pick a favorite!
Groet!
Gerard
Thanks so much for your reaction Don. We have the same favorites…
Cheers, Gerard
Many thanks Igor! I’ll try adding a tiny bit of contrast and see what it does…
Cheers, Gerard
Thanks for your comments Marylynne!! The first two are also my favorites, for the same reasons.
I returned to the scene this morning, but even though there was some mist and there was again no wind, the feel was different because the sun didn’t hit the bottom of the birches anymore… This shows that we have to seize the opportunity, because a special moment will never repeat itself.
About the cropping: I like both your crops. They focus the eye more on the trunks with the lovely light by excluding more foliage. There are of course many possibilities for cropping and editing, but I usually don’t crop much while processing in LR, as I like to work on the composition when I’m there and try to get it ‘right’. That’s why it’s so good to learn from your comments and those made by others: this morning I (think I) was already more aware of alternative views, distracting elements in the frame and of possibilities to crop closer.
Cheers,
Gerard
