This makes me smile too so you have captured the moment very well. The light shows the texture of their hide which always amazes me.
To be picky, the very top of the frame distracts me as I wonder what is in the darkness. I might try a square crop.

Perhaps crop the top, just below the left-most gray boulder (?). I find that the top edge draws my eye up from the ellies. Alternatively, perhaps removing some contrast from that top edge? Or maybe just burning the gray boulders a bit?
