I’ve photographed a few scenes like this - though mine were never quite this good - and they are always fun to find and explore with a camera. The colors in this one are just gorgeous. It’s interesting how sharp some of the edges are while others a soft. I love that, it offers a nice contrast. Beautiful photo!
Thanks for uploading this image. The colors and patterns are fascinating. I wonder how it would turn out, if you made a series of such images and made a visual narrative about the fleeting patterns and figures and color schemes? Just two technical comments: First, the image is captured at 8000 ISO and there is some noise in the image due to the high ISO. Next time, you might want to open up the aperture (perhaps to f2.8 or f4) and reduce the ISO, thereby achieving less noise. That might enhance the fascinating contrast between areas with clarity and sharpness, on the one hand, and softness, on the other hand. Second, the luminosity is almost uniform throughout the frame, giving the impression of a two-dimensional subject — almost as if you had photographed the subject, the surface, from a 90-degree angle. You might want to try using a gradient filter in post, thus creating a sense of depth, or, reversely, omit using such a gradient filter if the original scene was marked by contrast in terms of luminosity. Anyway, thanks for sharing this image.
I love these kind of reflections. I shot something similar on my last trip to the swamps near the east Texas border. The little individual tiles that the water ripples make always fill me with wonder.
The branch placement works really well and there are no holes that pull the eye. The branches are clearly recognizable as branches making this easier to figure what we are looking at but nonetheless, this is a really cool image. It’s always good to look down, isn’t it??
