These are just excellent Allen. The light, colors, detail, placement in the frames, control of the glare from the water are all done exceptionally well. I love the catchlights in both snake and fish eyes. What an epic event to watch. Your water snake images have been great.
Both exciting shots, Allen. The first one, being closer, shows the all-important eyes so clearly. It could even be cropped to square ratio, to cut out the pointed leaf on the right. I agree with all of @Ed_Williams’s positives. Do these snakes eat their prey on dry land?
Hi Jagdeep, no I don’t have the full fish in a useful image. The snake brought the fish to a rocky bank and the tail was cut off by the foreground rocks.
So cool, Allen, and I love the angle here, which offers such a great view of both animals.
I’d really love to see a version with a tighter crop, something that eliminates a lot of the background messiness and just highlights the combined shape of the snake and fish. It would end up squarish, but I think would really help highlight some of the great detail you captured on their bodies.
