Waves in Transition

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Typically, I’m not one for sunset pictures as I feel they often rely heavily on color to convey their beauty. With these shots, I wanted to explore how texture in a black and white image might create a different mood while still conveying the essence of the scene.

Your exploration was successful for me, the black and white version is much better in my opinion. Beautiful image.

Don,

For the me the B&W version shifts the focus from the sky to the sea. I can see what you are doing but my preference is the colour version for the colour, detail and contrast in the sky.

I like both, however, if this were a sunrise, my preference is the color version. It’s going to get brighter. Since it is a sunset, I prefer the B/W because things are going to get darker.
