Weekly Challenge - Resilience

Image(s)

Image Description

These flowers were bravely blooming on a hillside in Capitol Reef National Park in May. Their vibrant color sits in contrast to the red rock, which seems an unlikely place for flowers to exist.

Pertinent Technical Details

The day was slightly overcast. And, yes, it was mid day. Sony a1, Tamron 28-70 lens.

Joey: Nice find and the contrast is noticeable. I’m not seeing a difference in the two images? Regardless, a fine capture and presentation. >=))>

Thanks. I screwed up. Still learning the upload system and I uploaded it twice, so, no difference. I couldn’t figure out how to delete one.

Joey: Go back to your original post and you will see a small pencil icon at the bottom. Click on that and the edit screen will come up. The image files will be on the top. Simply highlight one of them and delete and then save the edit and you’re done. >=))>

I really like the contrast of colors in this one. It feels to be a unique subject in an environment like that from what the photo shows. I think this photo could become even more powerful if you were to get a shot focussing on maybe even just one of the flowers or experimenting with some other compositions as well. But, overall I like it! Great job!

Joey, the flowering plant in the midst of all the red rock is very striking. The soft white edges on the leaves help to retain what little moisture it gets. Your composition looks good with the sharpness of the rocks adding well to the overall story of resilience.

Fantastic combination of colors here, Joey, but what I appreciate is that subtle diagonal line of rocks paralleling the flower line on the left. It’s not a composition or scene where one might expect to find lines as a prominent element, but I think that repeating pattern helps fill the empty space to the left.
