Weyerhaeuser Aspens

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I live near the now-abandoned campus of Weyerhaeuser Company. In spring and fall, its forested acres provide a pleasant photo destination. I remembered this grove from last year, when I was too late for prime leaves. Usually I think of aspen leaves as yellow, but this year, the fruity-colored leaves caught my eye.

Specific Feedback

Does this come across as not overstated?
I tinkered a lot with the background leaves on the upper right, wanting them to be a supporting element, but not distracting. Do they play the role OK for you?

Technical Details

Fujifilm X-t5 with XF 16-55mm f2.8 @ 16mm f/14 1/13 sec. Tripod.
Processed in Lightroom, with Topaz Photo for sharpening.

I find this unique Dick, and really like it. The leaves splashed with sunlight make me think of a brightly colored dancer swirling a skirted costume and it’s lovely.

I think the leaves in the background are perfect. They provide necessary interest and the photo would feel empty without them, but they are muted enough to not overwhelm the star of the show.
