Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

This was taken on my recent Fall colors trip a few weeks ago. I loved the white trunks of the aspen, the colors nearly at peak contrasting with the small pine tree. I also love the background red shrubs adding even more contrast. It was really the uniformity of the truncks and that lone Pine that captured my interest in this scene.

Specific Feedback

I did almost no processing on this image and I’m wondering if I left anything on the table. Under processed? Room for more color? The two front Aspens too white?

Amazing image. This is a flawless image. I think you knocked it out of the park with this one. I love it when you don’t need to process your image much. Congrats.

This is truly wonderful, David. Composition, tonality, and color look spot-on to me. I would not change a thing.

Hi David,
I am loving this! The vertical lines of the tree trunks work beautifully in the horizontal format and the yellows, reds and golds scream peak autumn color to me. I also think the evergreen makes the perfect counter to the aspens and the FG grasses anchor to this lovely scene very nicely. Absolutely no suggestions from me.

This is a really beautiful image, David! I love symmetry as the great, natural colours. I’m on the fence with those two aspens. They seem a bit too bright and yet at the same time aren’t distracting. For me the centered spruce tree is the main character while the two aspens are a pair of supporting actors that add to the story while not taking all of the attention away from the star.

Lovely David. This would be a wonderful image without the evergreen, but with your purposeful placement in the center it becomes the contrast and the star. That’s counterintuitive for me, and makes this unique. Well done.

Thanks you @Igor_Doncov, @Preston_Birdwell, @Ed_Lowe, @Tom_Nevesely, @John_Williams for your comments on this one. I’m glad that the center position of that evergreen is ok with everyone and the fact that I did almost nothing to this in processing was OK. Your feedback is always important to me. Thanks again.

David, I wouldn’t change a thing! You’ve got a fine mix of colors set off by the evergreen tree and the white aspen trunks. The colorful leaves have a nicely pointillist feeling.
