The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
On Sunday my family and I took a drive into the La Sal Mountains. Fall color is just getting started up there and when I found this beautiful aspen tree with a golden backdrop surrounded by still green leaves, I had to make an image. My wife and I are headed back up tonight for a quick picnic dinner and if I’m nice, she might even let me make a photo or two.

Hi Bret,
This is quite nice; I am surprised no one has commented yet. The green and yellow leaves make for a lovely color combination and I like the way they are spread out around the scene. The whites of the aspen trunks look perfect and contrast beautifully with the BG yellow leaves. I could see cloning a few leaves over the brown toned dead limb where it crosses over the aspen trunk toward the ULC, but it certainly is not a deal breaker the way it is. Aspens sure do make beautiful photographic subjects. I hope you both had a wonderful picnic dinner and you were nice so you could take the camera and capture a few more pics to share with us.
First off, Kudos to your wife for “allowing you” to create a magical image while out on a family picnic.
The framing is really nice and those green leaves around the edge of the entire frame really make the whites of the trunk and branches and the yellow leaves in the background pop. They also provide a natural vignette. The colors look spot on and it looks like you had really nice light to work with. No harshness at all in this image. I leave for the Tetons and Yellowstone tomorrow so this is getting excited about my upcoming trip. Thanks for sharing this one Bret!
Bret, the white of the trunks stand out very well against the yellow leaves behind. The green leaves on the sides add some extra information about the season as they frame the main elements. Congrats on getting a fine shot while on a family outing…I know from experience how hard that is.
