White Faced Meadowhawk

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

This species is one of the easier meadowhawks to ID with some certainty. Dragonfly season is winding down and Sympetrum species are still easy to find. Unfortunately, I could not get this guy shaded by my shadow nor did my fill flash fire. pretty good detail with a nice fall colored BG.

Specific Feedback

I left the highlights on the hindwing, but could remove them if so desired. How do you like this comp with my limitations due to the lighting present. Thank you for looking!

Jim: What a fantastic dragon and an equally terrific capture. The highlights are a non-issue. There is a new tool in PS for removing dust spots that works really well. With the Camera Raw Filter, go to the remove tool and it gives you the option to remove dust. It finds the spots and removes them. The feature is not yet available in Lightroom but is expected soon. Great find here with good plane of focus control and a marvelous result. >=))>

Lovely with gorgeous detail and perfect BG! The highlights on the wing are a touch of reality – leave them! No nits!

Well done. Jim. I like this as posted. No nits here.

Hi Jim,

It’s such a pleasure to see your photographs. They are the standard of excellence. I wouldn’t change anything in this image.

Jim, this is a fine look at this dragonfly. Nice details and color, and the BG makes him stand out. I like it as it is too.

Wonderful capture Jim! Great colour and detail. Beautiful background and the dragonfly is posing beautifully.

The little highlights don’t bother me at all.
