We have a number of cacti of various sizes and shapes in our garden and the symmetry of this one really caught my eye. Of course, astral black holes suck in everything that comes near to them and I thought this looked like the white stars were being sucked into the vortex. >=))>

Hi, very graphical. Always amazed with the shape plant can create. To answer your question about the stack, I don’t think it was needed. First, because our eyes don’t see every thing pin sharp. Second, because your shot f22 gives a nice sharpness to your image.
It’s truly fascinating how nature creates such symmetrical patterns, and you’ve captured a real nice one here Bill. Your choice of a small aperture in the absence of focus stacking worked out as the details are sharp throughout the frame.
Love this! It’s a perfect fit for the challenge theme. I like the colors, which help to accentuate the patterns. Even before I read your title, I thought of galaxies. I think the single f/22 shot gave great results in the light you had, no softness or noise, so why make things more complicated than they need to be?
I really love the spiral and how it looks like little starts all around. I think the image is sharp through most of it and the areas on the lower left that might be a bit less sharp add to the feeling of depth. Really beautiful.

A wonderful eye to pick up this swirling pattern. I have achieved the same effect by rotating the camera to encircle the plant. I find the image retains very good focus right to the edges so I think you were right on your focal length. Great submission.
Bill, you probably remember that Korean bathrooms often provide plastic shoes so you don’t get wet feet. This shot would make an excellent floor tile design for folks like me who sometimes forget to don said footwear! Super shot.
